Bits from my personal collection – Return to Monkey Island, custom box

To celebrate the release of Return to Monkey Island, a game I and thousands of others have waited 30 years on, I decided to create my own custom box in the style of Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts‘ beautiful big boxes from the late ’80s and early ’90s… now we just need an official physical release… Ron do you hear me! Over the last year, I’ve played and completed the first two games with my 10-year-old son and now we’re having a blast playing through this one.

  1. Bravo! Excellent work! I would like to do the same as you did. I played Monkey Island on my Commodore Amiga the first time. A lot of disk swapping 😜 but I enjoy it. I used to play graphic adventures on my Amiga: Uninvited, Shadowgate, Arazok’s Tomb, Knight Orc, but The Secret of Monkey Island was a true new experience. I would like to build a box like yours. Maybe you can share how to, the materials, how to print (or instructions to the printing service). I shall be so grateful if you can share all useful informations. Thank you

    1. I have used Photoshop and Illustrator but any photo editor would do. Find some artwork you like – I have vectorized the cool LeChuck image and re-created the classic Lucasfilm Games/Arts border with labels, logos, etc…
I have measured the original box from Monkey 2 and punched in the information to Pack.ly to get I guide I could create the artwork on top of.
