The Missing Ring

As I’m tied up in other projects at the moment, upcoming posts will be nothing more than a few pictures and a gameplay video. Hopefully, I’ll have more time later in the year to continue doing more extensive posts.

The Missing Ring, written by Terry Romine and published by Datamost for the Apple II in 1982.

A team of 1 – 5 characters must delve into the Enchanted Palace to find the missing Wizard’s Ring. Players can choose from a total of 8 different characters: Fighter with Sword, Wizard, Cleric, Elf with Bow, Dwarf with Ax, Fighter with Ax, Elf with Sword, Dwarf with Hammer, and Fighter with Bow. All 5 characters are displayed on the screen independently and can move to different locations and different dungeon rooms separately. There are two separate sets of movement keys mapped to the keyboard, so two different players can play together.
Players must fight monsters and collect treasures hidden throughout the palace. Players need to keep alert for hidden doors and traps. There are a variety of magical potions, some of which are poisonous. Characters can leave the palace at any time to interact with a merchant to purchase more healing potions. Characters can also be saved for future play after leaving the palace.
